Mike Gulvin MA / RSA TEFLA

Head of Department

Mike graduated from the University of Winchester in 2007 with a Masters degree in Popular Knowledges. He has been a teacher of English for over 20 years spanning Europe and Asia. Mike speaks Japanese and also teaches Philosophy, American History, Politics and Academic Writing, as well as running the English department. His interests are: music and football and is an avid Manchester United fan.

tomhazan Tom Hazan is originally from London, UK. He has a degree in Marketing and a DELTA teaching certificate from Cambridge University. He has been teaching for 10 years in England, Taiwan, Japan and a total of 5 years in Vietnam.
pamela Pamela hails from Missouri, USA and graduated from Regis University, specializing in Spanish and ESL Communications. She's lived and worked In Latin America, South America, Asia, and has now resided in Vietnam for almost 3 years. When she's not working, she enjoys doing yoga, playing darts, and traveling around Asia.
patrick Patrick is managing director of a consultancy company in London, he has also been. teaching business and academic English for over 5 years. He has teaching qualifications from Cambridge University and a Bachelors degree in Journalism. Patrick speaks several languages including French, German and Dutch and has lived or worked in over 30 countries. He enjoys squash, golf and rugby and his favorite football team is Chelsea.
bethan Bethan graduated with an Arts degree from Bristol University in 1999. She is an avid reader and prior to teaching, worked in the book industry in London for 15 years. She has been teaching English for 5 years. In her freetime, Bethan enjoys scuba diving, walking, swimming and art.

John Helden

English teacher

John qualified from the University of North London in July 2001 with a BA Honours degree in English. He has a Trinity College London TESOL and is a qualified IELTS speaking examiner. He has been teaching in Europe and Asia for ten years. He is the founding member of The Saigon Writers Group, a collection of creative writers here in Saigon. His interests are writing short stories and football. He is a life long supporter of Leeds United Football Club.

chris The 'oldie' of the group, Chris majored way back in 1975 in Design and Sculpture and has kept the artistry going. For 25 years he was involved in social care, obtaining the Cert. Youth and Community work, employed as an area manager and business manager for around 25 years in Social Housing before moving to Vietnam 8 years ago. He is a keen gardener, which could be problematic in HCM City, my balcony has become my garden which is full of bonsai trees and summer flowers
larry Larry is a highly qualified ESL trainer with over 25 years teaching experience in Spain, Canada and Vietnam, specializing in Academic English and IELTS/TOEFL preparation. He has an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Toronto and is also a professional writer, editor and translator (Spanish/English). Larry is interested in multimedia applications and enjoys composing, recording and performing music as well as playing street hockey… but most of all, he enjoys raising his two sons.
