In a recruiting for students occurring in August and September 2015, HCMUS will only save 80 seats for the international program, Bachelor of Information and Technology Sciences. This is a joint program between HCMUS, Vietnam and Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. It can be said that students from this program shall be given rewarding opportunities from the relationship between both countries.
New Zealand’s ambassador, Mr. Graham Sims says:” Education is the top priority in creating and fortifying the relationship between New Zealand and Vietnam”. He also says that New Zealand always wants to push this relationship forward and encourage Vietnamese students to experience a high level of education from New Zealand.
HCMUS is considered a university with maximum efforts in pushing the relationship between Vietnam and New Zealand. In the 7th of August 2013, the university was honored to welcome Mr. Jerry Mateparae, New Zealand's 20th Governor-General, and the 9th Queen's representative. This visitation noted a remarkable success between AUT and HCMUS in the Bachelor of Information and Technology Sciences program. Moreover, in his visitation, the Governor General provided multiple scholarships and educational policies to Vietnamese students.

Up till now, HCMUS has trained 9 cycles from this program and received successes not only from the training program but also positive feedback from the graduated students. Especially, students from this program can apply for post-graduated scholarships from New Zealand. Annually, students are encouraged to study in New Zealand with these scholarships.
New Zealadn has a prestigious history in educating and training for the past 50 years. With the population of 4 millions people, New Zealand focuses on education and it is considered one of the best countries doing best in this aspect. Today, more over 2000 Vietnamese students study in New Zealand.
